The outer coast of Chichagof Island in Alaska is a rugged landscape where jagged cliffs and rocky beaches meet the Pacific Ocean. Accessible only by boat, this remote part of the Tongass National Forest embodies true wilderness, with old-growth rainforest overhanging intertidal zones teeming with marine life. I took this photo during a 2-week kayak trip from Sitka to Elfin Cove.
