EXPLORER BASIN
EXPLORER BASIN
The Tongass National Forest, the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world, is a tapestry of ancient trees, vibrant ecosystems, and salmon-rich streams. While filming the documentary Understory, I had the opportunity to circumnavigate Prince of Wales Island and explore some of the Tongass’s wildest corners with my wife, Elsa Sebastian. In this photo, our sailboat, the Murrelet, rests in a protected anchorage known as Explorer Basin.
