In the summer of 2022, 79 million sockeye salmon returned to Bristol Bay Alaska, smashing records. I captured this photo about 100 miles from the nearest community while working on a documentary film about the proposed Pebble Mine, which threatens the world’s largest salmon run. Sockeye salmon tend their redds with precision and care, fanning gravel to protect their eggs and ensure the survival of the next generation .
About the prints & framing
These archival photographs are giclée printed on cotton fiber to museum standards with a 100-year lifespan. If you choose a framed print, they will be individually built of ¾ inch ash sourced from the Appalachian Mountains and protected by a UV-resistant, anti-reflective acrylic glazing.
